It's my 100th Post Party! And coincidentally I've finally reached that wonderful 100 hits per day mark. AND my local supermarket has started carrying Lock & Lock products. Sooo...
Comment and answer my question to win a Lock & Lock 750ml box, colored wooden toothpicks, & some elegant mini paper baking cups.
This Lock & Lock box is advertised as a "dairy keeper" and has a removable horizontal divider with tablespoon measurements on it. Use it without the divider for taller foods, or with the divider to put a sandwich on top and other less stable foods underneath.
This style box is simple and practical for adults or older kids who don't want lots of cutsie characters or colors. It's 750ml size is just right for an average adult lunch or a mother/toddler snack or light lunch. Lock & Lock is known for being very leak-proof, with four solidly locking wings on each side. It can also be used for food storage, craft storage, etc if you don't want to use it as a bento.
All items are new. Contest ends saturday, March 21st and I will announce the winner via high-tech "kidlet picks name out of hat" method on Sunday, March 22nd.
Just answer this fun question to enter:
If you had $100 to spend on only 1 food item, what would it be?
(I personally would order as many cases of Tartex pate as possible!)

I would go buy a nice rice cooker with that "fuzzy logic" timer!!
I would probably spend $100 buying as many jars of different sauces, I'm terrible at making them.
Tough question. I would most likely buy as many Primal Strips as possible, preferably by the caseload. It's something we don't buy that often, but just love.
I would probably spend it all on chocolate Im pretty much addicted to chocolate or bread I love bread as well.
Luna bars. Or dried mango from Tierra farms, or a whole tierra farms assorted nut/fruit order.
I'd stock up on harder to find ingredients and seasonings from various ethnic grocers. Luxury!
I would love to try all sorts of different types of rice!
Hmmmm. I would buy cases of yummy non-alcoholic drinks like fizzie lime soda. Yum!
I would fill an entire freezer with those "Healthy Weight", "Healthy Vision", and "Healthy Digestion" frozen veggie boxes by Jolly Green Giant. I know they're wasteful, but it's the only way i've found to get 3 servings of veggies a day. Via microwave. And they are all awesome with couscous. Also via microwave.
Hi! I would stock up on some canning jars and lids!
I've always wanted to try lock and lock containers - they look awesome!!
If I had $100, I'd probably spend it on nuts. We like to snack on them and I use them in a lot of my cooking. Love your blog!! :)
I'd spend it on organic fruit from the all organic farmer's market. It's just too expensive any other way.
Jen (aka 2 in August)
Oh and congrats on the big milestones for your blog!!
Congrats on reaching the landmark.
If I had a hundred dollars to be spent on a food item...I'd buy....A dairy goat! That way I could make lots of goat cheese.
(Something tells me this is not what you had in mind....)
goldenbryant - Sadly my rice cooker with fuzzy logic cost more than double $100...yikes.
Melissa - Are Primal Strips like jerky?
Secret - If you win I'll throw in some chocolate. ;-) I can sympathize with that desire.
delilah - Never heard of those, I'll have to look around more in the freezer section at the market!
jennholly - I didn't set any criteria except food item...at least no one has grossed me out yet by saying they'd buy $100 worth of haggis or the like!
Congrats on the blog milestones!
Let's see... if I could use the $100 toward a kitchen gadget, I'd totally buy a dehydrator so that I could make more Raw dishes. If I had to spend it specifically on food, I think I'd probably buy crates of some yummy organic produce-- maybe some strawberries so that I could make tons and tons of jam to last a lifetime.
I would buy as many jars of Dicken's Purely Fruit Seedless Blackberry Spread as I could. My family is addicted and it's the one thing I splurge on for them. I end up buying a jar a week, lol. At almost $5 for a 6oz jar...ouch..
Congrats on reaching 100. Money to blow, Royal Riviera Pears from Harry & David.
Tings...a very large case of Tings.
I'll say organic produce. If I had to get specific, avocado. Yum.
Yep. They're jerky strips. http://www.primalspiritfoods.com/Products.html
Oh gosh - if someone gave me $100 to spend - being the good Gemini that I am, I would probably change my mind about 500 times about what I wanted to spend it on! The veg pate is a good one. I like the Tartex, but there is another that I like a little more that I might get (it'd be nice if I could remember the name, eh?). I might just spend it ALL on organic, free trade, dark chocolate - yea, that would be high on the list. Although the practical side of me might win out, and I would spend it all on Laptop Lunch boxes. It would depend on where the moon was at! LOL. No, really - it might....
I love the L/L containers- easy to use and virtually leak proof. I'd spend it on all kinds of fruit and veggies from a local stand.
If I had 100 dollars I would stock up on all the random foods that I FLY through.. which then leave me with less choices for later meals.
I just went through almost all of my vital wheat gluten, I suck down agave nectar like its water, and the kids now think that sushi nori rolls (the paper) are even better when the are crunchy!! (odd huh?)
I also had to restock my quinoa stash and my miso gets used in like ten recipes.
It would be a great grocery trip, but just to get these things alone would take time off my hands.. am I out of chickpea flour again???
but if it were a tool? I share your love for bentos. I would give you back the 100 and just beg you for some hello kitty for my girls!! (and me)
Chocolate! I would love to spend $100 on chocolate. YUM :)
I'd spend it on blackberries so I could freeze some and eat some and make some smoothies!
Congratulations with your 100th post !!
If I had §100 to spend on 1 item, I would choose those colourful soy wrappers to bring some new colors in my bento, I would need a part of the money for the shipping costs, because I really don't know where to buy them near where I live.
Congrats on making it to 100!
Hmm...$100. If "food item" includes appliances, I would get a new blender. Mine chooses to work sporadically, causing me to never use it because I hate putting stuff in there only to find out it doesn't feel like going.
For actual food, I think I might go with bulk nutritional yeast. I put it in everything like it's going out of style!
I would probably buy as many packages of eggplant parmesan as I could. So many that I would get sick of it! That'd teach me!
As it is, I only get it every once in awhile because the only store that sells it is a store I don't often go to because of their prices.
Or else, if it was the season, I would spend it all on White Peaches. I got hooked on them from the public market last summer, only to find out they were already out of season the very next time I went. :(
I can't believe no one said AVOCADOS!!! I love them and here in Mexico they're so cheap. We also cook with the leaves which are so aromatic and yummy! Cograts, and visit my just inagurated today bento blog: www.abracabento.blogspot.com (I know, blatant self promotion) it's in spanish but cute! (= ^-^ =)
If I were to buy an appliance, I would put it towards an excalibur food dehydrator. I adore dried fruits and veggies. If it were to go toward a food item... considering that I don't have a dehydrator, I would have to go with an assortment of dried fruits, especially mango and pineapple.
Jenn Denis - No worries, I speak spanish. I'll be checking in with your new blog!
monki - I lurv my Excalibur dehydrator. It's noisy though!
Definitely various types of chocolate. I just luv it. But maybe some sauces would be nice too.
Oh, wow. That's awfully difficult...
If "food item" includes things that help you prepare/pack food, I'd go for more bento stuff. I'm making bento on practicaly nothing- one divider meant for the one three-tier bento box I have, no sauce bottles, no condiment containers... bento accessories in general.
But, in terms of FOOD?
Probably Pocky. You can never have enough of the stuff, and should I ever get sick of eating it (I'd hope not!), it's makes for great bartering when having lunch at school! ^-^
